Hi, I'm Amanda! 👋

I'm Amanda Kunzinger, a Critical Care RN, founder of AK Health & Fitness and creator of the Autoimmune Strength Protocol™.

Living with Crohn’s Disease for more than 20 years, I’ve experienced every extreme an autoimmune disease can put your body through. From barely 90 pounds — frail, malnourished, inserting my own feeding tubes, and ultimately needing surgery — to the opposite extreme: overweight, weak, and struggling to lose over 50 pounds.

For years, I carried this quiet belief that I was a burden to the people I loved because of my illness. I was diagnosed with severe major depressive disorder at just 12 years old, and the anxiety and depression that followed were often unbearable.
I spent the next 15 years struggling with my mental health while also battling a body that felt like it was constantly fighting against me.

After countless failed attempts and every frustration you can imagine, everything changed when I finally learned how to rebuild my strength — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Through years of trial, error, research, and lived experience, I transformed my health, my physique, and my quality of life.
I discovered how to live healthy and happy in a body I once hated and felt trapped in.

The very process that helped me reclaim my body became the foundation for what is now the Autoimmune Strength Protocol™.

As a nurse, I no longer just care for patients in the ICU, I get to help others living with autoimmune diseases reclaim their lives just like I did.
